WiMP for Sonos

Last week, 450,000 Scandinavian members of the HiFi Club received an e-mail offer to start using a beta version of music streaming service WiMP for the wireless music system Sonos. WiMP launched as the first music service in the new Sonos Sound Labs, and proved a success as a significant amount of users are already running WiMP on Sonos this week. WiMP for Sonos contains the entire editorial content of WiMP, making it even easier to listen to music in high quality everywhere in the house.

Aspiro has signed an agreement with LINK Mobility AS on the sale of the business area Mobile Solutions in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The purchase price amounts to NOK 20 m and Aspiro estimates to comple the deal in mid-October. Aspiro thus frees up additional resources for TV and music service WiMP, which before the summer passed 300,000 paying users, three times the amount in the beginning of the year.

Greater access to music streaming services paves way for payment model in the Nordic countries

A survey conducted by market analyst company Norstat for Aspiro Music confirms that Scandinavians are pioneers when it comes to access to music streaming services. Nearly half of all Swedes and Norwegians have access to a streaming service. The payment model is also increasingly winning ground, one fourth of all Norwegians that are using streaming services pay to stream music, while 15% of Swedes do the same.
