WiMP introduce new iOS version for improved music discovery

Today, music streaming service WiMP release an updated iOS version with new and improved features for iPhone and iPad. Among the news are artist and track based radio, genre overview and pages for album- and playlists. Also, an updated desktop version for PC and Mac will be released shortly.

WiMP presents ‘Legends’ - curated global editorial campaign

All through April, music streaming service WiMP highlights the great legends of modern music history. 28 artists, selected by WiMP editors will be presented with daily playlists across all WiMP countries. Featured artists include Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Queen, Michael Jackson and Muddy Waters, all available for streaming.

Music streaming service WiMP differentiates through its editorial profile with local editors in each market, always aiming to inspire users to discover new music and old favorites. Adding to the local flavor, WiMP now also introduces curated global campaigns, showcasing more of all the great music among the millions of tracks. The first campaign ‘Forever Young’ focused on the enormous back catalogue and specifically the music of the 80’s. Its success is now followed by a new campaign called ‘NewSound’, presenting new, local artists in each market.

Aspiro TV launches hosted Premium Live transcoding platform

Aspiro TV, a Norwegian company providing Multi-Screen TV services and products, today announced the launch of a premium hosted platform with flexible time-based encoding capacity. This platform which caters to Live Channels and Events will significantly reduce the cost and complexity of broadcasting events like sport and news, since capacity can be booked on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

WiMP cranks up the sound

Great news for all sound enthusiasts today, as music streaming service WiMP upgrades the sound quality for all its users. The entire catalogue of some 20 million licensed tracks is in the process of being replaced with new files encoded from CD-quality using Dolby Media Generator. Next step – lossless and HD-testing and aim of Premium Plus product.

WiMP expands cooperation with Telenor

Music Service WiMP has signed a new distribution agreement with Telenor. in Norway WiMP already has an agreement with Telenor and Telenor-owned Canal Digital, where approximately 700,000 customers get WiMP included in their TV subscription. The new agreement will also include bundle with specific data packages by Telenor and also makes Telenor a reseller of WiMP.

Music streaming service WiMP today launches its commercial version in Poland, after experiencing an immense popularity of its beta version. WiMP simultaneously also opens its second partnership in Poland with mobile operator Play, following the already live cooperation with pay-tv provider platform n.

WiMP becomes main partner for by:Larm and Nordic Music Prize

Music Service WiMP has expanded its partnership with music festival and conference by:Larm in Oslo, Norway and signed up as main partner. This means, among other things, that the festival's main tent will be the WiMP-tent, where the new partners are now planning several activities. WiMP will also take part at the new initative by:Larm Tech and in addition continue the title sponsorship of the Nordic Music Prize, previously awarded to Jónsi and Goran Kajfes.
