1 000 000 000 streams for WiMP

Last night, a WiMP-user streamed song number 1 000 000 000 for the service. WiMP was recently launched in Germany, and focuses heavily on editorial content and locally relevant music. The song was played by a Norwegian user and was the young Norwegian artist Alexandra Joner and her new single Sunrise.

Aspiro TV extends agreement with 3 Sweden & Denmark

Aspiro TV, Scandinavia´s leading  Multi-screen and OTT TV & Video enabler announced today that it has extended its agreement with Swedish operator 3 for services in Sweden & Denmark. The service agreement will provide Aspiro with revenues in the range of 6-8 MSEK over a period of two years.

Aspiro invites to press- and analyst meeting on 10 May

In relation to the publishing of Aspiro’s interim report for the first quarter 2012, Aspiro invites press and analysts to a lunch presentation. Aspiro’s CEO Gunnar Sellæg will present the development of the last quarter. The interim report will be published on the same morning at 8.30 a.m. CET.

German music industry likes WiMP - Aspiro will launch early second quarter

Music Service WiMP has been available in a closed beta version in Germany since December 2011, where mainly representatives of the music industry have been invited to test the service. In a survey in which over half of the test users participated, 9 out of 10 answered that they are satisfied with the service and that they will continue using it daily or several times a week. Aspiro is preparing for commercial launch early in the second quarter.

Aspiro signs new deal for music streaming service in the Netherlands

Aspiro has today signed an agreement with a new ISP partner, Ziggo, in the Netherlands, for a WiMP-powered streaming music service. The agreement provides Aspiro with minimum revenues of SEK 9 million over a period of two years.

Norway runs past Sweden in music streaming

Music streaming services are gaining ground fast in the Scandinavian countries and revenue to the music industry is increasing. A market survey conducted by Norstat for music service WiMP in January 2012, shows that the proportion of Norwegians who have access to a music streaming service has increased from 37 to 56 percent in the last six months. For the first time, Norway has surpassed Sweden in this statistic - in Sweden during the same period the corresponding figure increased from 48 to 54 percent.

Norwegian Canal Digital launches WiMP on TV

Today, Norwegian satellite customers of television distributor Canal Digital gains access to music service WiMP directly on their TV. The music service becomes a natural part of the TV menu for Canal Digital customers with the new PVR decoder from ADB. A few simple keystrokes on the remote control gives customers full access to the entire music catalogue and editorial content from WiMP. It is the first time this type of advanced music service is launched for Norwegian TV customers.

Fredrik Nystrom from PlusFourSix becomes General Manager for WiMP Sweden

Music Service WiMP has hired entrepreneur Fredrik Nystrom, from digital entertainment company PlusFourSix, as the new General Manager for WiMP in Sweden. Nystrom has over twelve years of experience in the music and mobile industries and is now taking over responsibility for the Swedish expansion of WiMP. He begins his new role on the 16th of January.

Music service WiMP summarizes 2011 and looks ahead in 2012

In 2011, the number of WiMP-users increased explosively and with it also usage of the service. In Norway, WiMP registered a five-fold increase in the number of streams per day from January to December and Swedish daily streams doubled over the last six months of the year. WiMP's editorial team published more than 500 varied playlists in each country and thus delivered new daily content for its customers. The users gained even more opportunities to take the music anywhere, as WiMP got available on iPad, Nokia phones, Sonos and Windows Phone 7. In 2012, the award-winning WiMP-editors continue to guide users to new and old music in all genres.
